SKELETODENTAL FACTORS AFFECTING OVERBITE DEPTH INDICATOR VALUE

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to test the predictability of ODI values for anterior overbite and to investigate the skeletal factors affecting ODI values. Ninety cases(30 cases in each malocclusion group) with normal overbite and overjet were included in this study. Cephalometric radiographs were taken with standard method, traced, and digitized. Skeletal and dental factors are measured and compared in relation to ODI value.

The results were as follows;
1. No significant differences were found in the ODI value between the class I and class II group, but class III group showed lower ODI value than class I or class II group.
2. AB plane angles were the most significantly different component of ODI between groups.
3. Though all anteroposterior skeletal factors were significantly correlated to ODI value, AB plane angle was the most significantly correlated.
4. The regression equation of ODI to AB plane angle was as follows;
Y = -1.113X + 63.415 (X : AB plane angle, Y : ODI, r2=0.476).
